Garden Club

Ms. Bombace and Ms. Festa

Tuesdays 4:15 - 5:15

Our school's Life Skills classes,  Earth and Space classes, and Life Science classes will design and cultivate a garden area. We will also beautify and maintain out outdoor classroom area. These areas will be used to teach life skills and apply learning from our 6th and 7th grade science class curriculums. Although the scope of the project is health/fitness/nutrition we will also be teaching agriculture and STEM skills at the same time.

STEM knowledge will increase as students learn about growing life in the SWFL environment. The literacy of students and staff alike will increase as we learn new skills and apply them to nutritional understanding as we reinforce our curriculum. We believe teaching quality will be increased as teachers of Life Skills and science classes alike will learn new ways to incorporate their lessons into real world scenarios.

It is our desire to prepare young adults for real world life scenarios. These students need hands-on activities to prepare them for future success in a complex world. Learning to grow and prepare healthy foods will connect our students from the textbook to life and help our students make important connections from the classroom.  Being able to grow and prepare nutritious foods is a valuable lesson that could spark a life-long love of science and nutrition.

While we learn about vocational skills, benefits of healthy nutrition, and how to grow plants in SWFL the Garden Club will also have fun and create lasting friendships!
